The Mighty Ducks

Last Friday was absolutely amazing! Firstly, I don’t want this blog to be thought of as hockey motivated or inspired, since I now have two posts based upon the subject. However, the experience at the 2010 Entry Draft in Los Angeles this past weekend was amazing. It was at least for myself anyway. I ended up taking one of my closest friends and his girlfriend for the first round on Friday, and then I dragged my little brother to the rest of the remaining rounds the next day.

The Anaheim Ducks, my favorite NHL team, may have been the most fortunate organization during this year’s meeting. They were able to acquire two prospects that were thought to be unfathomable to obtain in the position they were at during the beginning of the evening. Nevertheless, by the grace of the hockey gods, ― of course that last reference being just a saying ― these young gentlemen were pasted over by team after team, right until they landed to within Anaheim’s grasp. And much like myself, the Ducks were happy to add Emerson Etem, (pictured left), and Cam Fowler, (pictured right), by the end of the draft.

Also of note, I had the chance to briefly meet another prospect just outside of the Staples Center. He was born and based in Finland, so it was really nice to finally see a European prospect up close.
